Kitchen Cabinet Reface

You are at your wits end as to what to do when your old cabinet in the kitchen has begun to crack and form dents in several places due to rough use?You think that the time has come to buy a new cabinet yet you are hard of cash? You have just heard from one of your colleagues at your work place about the way he made his old cabinet turn new. It was kitchen cabinet reface with a difference.

You can do the same with your old kitchen cabinet. You need a suitable design that shouldn’t be way away from the design you are already having. A slight alteration is good but if you think of an entirely different design then the cost is likewise going to shoot up. After all, haven’t you opted for cabinet reface due to unbearable cost of other options?

You have two options to choose from while you are engrossed in the task of kitchen cabinet reface. What are these? You can either choose to reface the whole cabinet as it is without dismantling them or taking time to remove the old damaged wood surface with new ones. Or you could have them removed and then complete the process by adding new ones.

If you try to retain the dented and damaged wood as it is then you may hide them by first cleaning the cabinet and putting wood putty and then applying sand paper to smooth the surface. You can then grease them and then after that again apply sand paper and then paint them to make it look distressed or antique cabinets.

In the second instance where you remove old damaged wood or cracked surface you replace them with solid wood as plywood or fiber board tends to sag after sometime and then reface them to make the cabinet look as good as new one bought from the stores.

Whichever way you would like to continue with the job you must have all the tools nearby so as not to waste time and energy in the midst of the job by rushing out to buy one or two items. Your tools are as per your needs yet they should include a saw, hammer, rags, cloth pieces, wood putty, paint, screwdriver, grease and sprays. After the painting work is over you must keep the cabinet outside to dry. You should give not less than two coats of paints on it so that the kitchen cabinet reface work would be lasting.
