Your selection of paints is the most important thing for making the
kitchen cabinet beautiful and everlasting. There are some basic types of kitchen cabinets paint which you
should know before you plan for an elaborate cleaning and then painting session
of your cupboard. These are Alkyd-Oil base, Acrylic-Latex and tinted shellac
which is most commonly used in the cabinetry industry in the present times.
It is generally seen that the Alkyd-Oil base paint gives the greatest
longevity to the cabinet. It is also easy to maintain and is hard and hence
lasting. Yet when painted it requires one or two full days to get properly
dried. On the other hand the Acrylic-Latex can be easily dried as it has water
base in it. It gives stunning effect to your kitchen and has a shorter life
span.
The last of the above kitchen cabinets paint is the tinted shellac and is in powdered form and this
cannot be applied directly and hence there is need for suitable additives.
However, it is not sufficient to put only one coat as some cabinets would need
at least two to even three coats and hence costs may run up considerably
compared to the other types of paints. Hence, it is not quite popular to paint
with this.
You should think of painting with only one color although many people
try to apply more than one color on their cabinet. Yet this may or may not look
nice as it is always the single paint on the cabinet that has always held that
appeal. Thus, do with only one color and see the magic if you had applied it
properly. You of course need to clean the cupboard before you apply the paint
on your cabinet.
You may choose to have your kitchen look sparkling white or off white
so that it would look spacious as light colors reflect the light that falls on
them. In case you have opted for the black color then you must think of the
size of the kitchen as they tend to shorten the space of the kitchen while at
the same time enhancing the coziness and warmth.
Painting is an art and not much work and if you do it patiently and
carefully you will derive immense satisfaction while you do the job and more so
when you finish it to your liking. You should therefore do some research before
you come to decide on your kitchen
cabinets paint so that you need not be disappointed later.
